Nicholas Kalis, President of Kalis Development Corporation, has over five decades experience in commercial real estate (at the age of ten, accompanied his father to collect rent).

While Asset Manager for The Investment Group, a Washington, DC-based real estate syndicator, he oversaw a portfolio consisting of 2,500 apartments, two million sf of retail, and 145,000 sf of office. In addition, he developed a 12,250 sf addition to the Newport Square Shopping Center in Newport News, Virginia and a 17,488 sf addition to Madison Shopping Center in Madison Heights, Michigan.

The George Mason School of Law granted Nicholas a Juris Doctor degree. He also earned a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University's School of Public and International Affairs. Mr. Kalis graduated Cum Laude and was on the Dean's List at Queens College - City University of New York. Nicholas has also been inducted into the National Political Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta (Political Science Honor Society). Mr. Kalis also earned a four-year New York State Regents Scholarship. The IΔΡΥΜΑ ΜΕΛΕΤΩΝ ΧΕΡΣΟΝΗΣΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΑIΜΟΥ (Institute of Balkan Studies) awarded Nicholas a full scholarship to study at its Summer Program in Salonika, Greece.

Nicholas completed the following courses: Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) - "Managing Real Estate as an Investment" 400-Level Course (1987); American Institute of Real Estate Appraisal - "Capitalization Theory and Techniques, Part A" (May 1985) and "Capitalization Theory and Techniques, Part B" (July 1985).

Mr. Kalis passed the examination for American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers Real Estate Appraisal Principals and successfully completed Principles & Practices of Real Estate for Salesmen at Shannon & Luchs Academy of Real Estate. He completed a 40 hour course in Principles of Home Construction through Adult & Community Education of Fairfax County Public Schools.

In addition to several book reviews published in Business Information Alert, the Virginia Land Title Association’s Examiner has published two articles by Mr. Kalis.

The Order of AHEPA, Peter Derzis Chapter 438 presented Nicholas with an Appreciation Award for service in 1998-1999. The American Hellenic Institute presented Nicholas with an award recognizing his efforts in establishing and presiding over the AHI Chapter Northern Virginia June 1999 - June 2001. Nicholas was presented with an award from the Rotary Club of McLean for his service as Sergeant at Arms during 2002-2003. In October 2003 the Potomac Division of the Mid Eastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association presented Nicholas with an appreciation plaque for his dedication and devotion to the organization as layout tour coordinator.

The Rotary Club of McLean has inducted Nicholas Kalis as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was awarded Rotarian of the Month by the Rotary Club of McLean for service during May 2002. Nicholas also served on the Council of both Saint George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda and Saint Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church of Northern Virginia. In addition, Mr. Kalis was the founding President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Hellenic Institute. His commitment to promoting excellence in education led to his position as Vice President of the Parent-Teachers Organization of the Saint Katherine’s Greek School in Falls Church, Virginia.

When he is not working Mr. Kalis finds time to participate in the hobby of model railroading. His HO scale Long Island Railroad, Lower Montauk Branch took the September 2007 cover of Railroad Model Craftsman.
